Sail Away Cottage was built in 1920 — one of the oldest homes on Anna Maria Island — and moved to its current location in Bradenton Beach in the 1980s. The bones and character of a century-old beach cottage are intact. The island-themed updates are throughout. From the elevated position, you can hear the Gulf waves without seeing the water directly — and on a clear day, there's even a peek of the Gulf from the right angle.

One hundred and seventy steps to the sandy beach. That's the walk from the front door to the sand — specific enough to plan around, short enough to make spontaneous beach trips genuinely easy.

The private backyard is the outdoor living space. A heated pool sits in the center, framed by new tropical landscaping that screens the yard from the street. A large deck wraps the pool area — the right setup for morning coffee, afternoon sun, and evening cookouts. An outdoor shower handles post-beach cleanup before coming inside.

Three bedrooms sleep six. Two bedrooms have queen beds. The third bedroom has two twin beds. Two full bathrooms throughout. Flat-screen TVs in all bedrooms and the living room. High-speed WiFi included.

Three-car parking is included — generous for a Bradenton Beach property of this size.

Sail Away Cottage requires a one-week minimum stay. Not pet-friendly.

The BEST vacation!

"This property is even better than the pictures show! It had plenty of space for our family of five. It took about one minute to walk from the front door to the beach. The pool and area surrounding it is so nice! The home was very clean and had everything we needed. You could easily drive to any part of the island within minutes, but there are also several nice restaurants just a short walk away. The staff was so helpful and kind. It was our favorite beach to visit and our most favorite place we have ever stayed.

Very cozy and convenient

"This house is nestled between palm trees that gives it a very private vibe. It’s set steps from the beach and we enjoyed having a private pool. The only extra we purchased was paper products because we had plenty of dishwashing and trash bags. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean. Such a cute little place. The rental company was easy to communicate with and provided all the information we needed. We intend on staying again!

"Location was wonderful, cottage was spotless and well equipped. Beds comfortable and showers great. Tip! Chairs and beach wagon in lower garage! We did not know.. and bought beach chairs.. sunsets and white sugar sandy beach across the street.. glorious Florida!

"Sail away cottage was exceptional! Location is just a few steps from the beach. House is tucked away with tall trees and tropical plants which was great for privacy. House was very clean and accomodating for our family. Our only complaint was the Mosquitos being out of control all day.Made it tough to enjoy the backyard especially in the evening. delightful at sail away

"The cottage was very bright and airy. The living area was larger than expected. The large back deck had a gate at the top of the stairs which was perfect with an 18 month old around. The pool was nicely heated and any communication with Island Vacation was quickly responded to. We really didn't need a car since we could walk to several restaurants, the nearby beach, pickleball courts and park. There is also a free trolley bus on the island. Would definitely recommend!

Great place in a great location

"We had a great 2 week stay at Sail Away Cottage on Anna Maria Island. We have stayed at other places on Anna Maria and on Longboat Key, and Sail Away has been the best of all. We loved the private backyard and pool, and the deck off the main floor. The cottage was clean and spacious for our needs, and the management company was very responsive leading up to and during our stay. The location is fantastic...steps from the beach and a very short walk to the restaurants and shops on Bridge Street and between. We used the 2 of the bedrooms. The 3rd bedroom is good for a couple teenagers but might not work for an adult couple, but that wasn't an issue for us. We will definitely look to stay at Sail Away Cottage on our next visit.

Nice cottage

"We enjoyed our stay at Sail Away Cottage.The location was perfect. The place however needed a little bit more of cleaning. There's a lot of Knick knacks inside the house that need a hood dusting. The pool is nice and clean but the area around it could have used a good sweeping or hose h down. As much as we would have liked to use the pool at night, it was difficult to enjoy it with all the mosquitoes. Even with citronella candles and Thermacell, there was just too much bugs to enjoy the outdoor area. We still loved our stay just wishing we can enjoy the outdoor area more.

Almost perfection!

"I recently spent the month of February 2023 at Sail Away Cottage in Bradenton Beach. Having rented in other areas I knew you don't always get what you expect. This place exceeded my expectations! The location was perfect, midway between the Publix shopping center, where you can find just about anything you would need, and Bridge St. with great restaurants and shops. Both walkable/bikeable. Quiet neighborhood 1 1/2 blocks from a beautiful uncrowded beach and on the bay side, a great playground 3 blocks away.
The house was very clean and old Florida beach cottage adorable! Updated bathrooms and washer/dryer. A great supply of kitchen gear too.
A few negatives in the outdoor areas. The deck is in desperate need of a power wash! The pictures showed several pool lounge chairs but there was only one. Also, no cushions provided for the underdeck shaded area wicker set. If those things were included my title would be "Perfection!" I will be back for sure!

"The photos accurately match the house. This will comfortably support up to 6 adults. The beach is across the street with easy access so you don't have to worry about parking. The Free Trolley is also across the street so you can enjoy the island and never have to drive. If you want to stay home, you have a small private pool and backyard with the trees giving you plenty of privacy.

"Loved this cottage! Cottage was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Short walk to the beach and trolley stop was nearby. Really enjoyed the pool area too! Will definitely return to Sail Away. One suggestion though....a gas grill would be great for grilling and chilling by the pool.

"I always enjoy time on Anna Maria Island. Sail Away home is in great location and had private pool that was nice. Beds were comfy. House needs to be updated a little. Had a few issues with the property that were not fixed. None of the TV’s worked , bathroom cabinet was broke , one of chairs by pool was broke and garbage cans were full when we arrived and didn’t empty until the next day. Asked to have things fixed and only thing they did was bring a couple trash cans.

Very nice cottage

"The stay was good. The location is amazing. We had a few cleaning issues and a problem with a window we found when we arrived. It is an old house so basic maintenance issues needed. We did have 2 of our party that came down with severe ear infections. We think the pool needed way more chlorine than there was. Parking is limited. 3 cars was over max.

"weather was great, house decorated cute.Refrigerator, freezer, oven all broken-worked but barely, window handles would not open and had to call maintenance fixed what they could, half of deck furniture couldn't be used since it was broken, trash containers continually fell off tracks, sheets in master were rough and "pilly" had to flip bottom sheet to sleep better, pool was warm

Great beach house

"Sail Away has so much character yet has been updated with new bathrooms. Roomy with nice furnishings with a great beach vibe. Location was outstanding, just a block from the beach. All the amenities you need in the home. Would definitely rent it again. A few things in the kitchen need updating/replacing but all useable except stove exhaust fan. House was really clean and very nice linen service. Only complaint would be previous renters had obviously put dishes and utensils away without washing, which was frustrating but an easy fix for us to wash but not optimal.

"We had a great time. Really close to the beach. Pool was great when wanting to take a dip. Island Vacation Properties were great. I had a few pieces of mail and a delivery that arrived a day before our arrival. They had it waiting for us when we arrived at the cottage. "This is the second time we have stayed on the island. The home was nice. Everything we needed was provided. There are a few things to mention. We stayed in June and the pool was way too cold to swim in. We couldn't use it. Also there were some issues with tvs in the bedrooms. One didn't work at all and the other had problems with the cable box. We didn't use the TV's much so not really a big deal. Overall a nice place to stay for the price. We enjoyed our vacation very much!

"We love this place. We were able to try some wonderful restaurants on Anna Maria Island that we hadn't been to before. We don't often get a chance to relax, but with the cooler weather we were able to kick back and enjoy. This house was super comfortable , adorably decorated and a GREAT location to everything! We will definitely be back if available next year!
