Anna Maria Island Information

Where is Anna Maria Island?

The historic City of Anna Maria is located at the northern end of Anna Maria Island. Inhabited by friendly, easy going, island residents, this city exudes the charm of “Old Florida” when living was easy and times were good. Fishing piers, quaint, island shops and numerous restaurants await you. Winding streets take you though residential neighborhoods, where lush, tropical landscaping surrounds you. Rent a scooter or a bike, take a walk or ride the free Island trolley, but don’t miss one inch of the City of Anna Maria.

Things to Do in Anna Maria Island

Explore both of the great fishing piers while on the island. The Anna Maria City Pier stretches 710 feet out into the bay waters. It’s a wonderful spot to relax and do a little fishing while enjoying the historical aspects of the area. Another option is the Rod and Reel Pier where you can either catch your dinner or dine out in their award-winning restaurant overlooking the bay.

For younger guests, the Anna Maria Island Community Center is conveniently located and provides many sports and social activities for young and old alike.

Bean Point is one of the first areas settled on Anna Maria Island and should not be missed. At the extreme north end of Anna Maria where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Intra coastal waterway, the beaches are wide and sandy.

For a wonderful dinner on the Gulf stop by the Sandbar Restaurant and enjoy the sunset and live entertainment over a glass of wine. It’s just one of many restaurants on Anna Maria Island. They range from quaint to white tablecloth. Of course, seafood is fresh and offered in great quantity! For a dinner experience, visit the Sign of the Mermaid in Anna Maria. It oozes ambiance and the food is spectacular!

To learn more about the infancy of Anna Maria Island stop by the Anna Maria Island Historical Society and Museum on Pine Avenue. Right next door to the Museum is the Anna Maria City Jail. Stop by and take a look at it. It’s certainly one of a kind!

Whether your intent is to comb the beaches, fish or shop till you drop, the City of Anna Maria will meet your needs! It’s a laid back and peaceful lifestyle; it’s a way of life!
