Coquina Beach Bike Path
This is a paved multi-use path along the beach, so you will share the path with walking people. It starts at Cortez Beach, just south of Bridge Street, and continues to Coquina Beach. This is a five-mile trail where you might be able to see some wildlife like Blue Herons and maybe even some dolphins swimming in the sea.
Coquina Beach has a cafe, public restrooms, picnic tables, beach showers, and lifeguards, so it’s a great place to stop for lunch and lounge on the beach for the afternoon.
Bradenton Riverwalk Bike Path
The Bradenton Riverwalk is a bike and walking path in the town of Bradenton that runs along the Manatee River. You’ll see lots of public art while riding along the Riverwalk. There is an amphitheater, skate park, playground, beach volleyball, a fishing pier, and more along this bike ride. Stop and look at the Open Heart sculpture and gaze at the Tropicana trains crossing the river on the bridge.
You can also bike over downtown and enjoy Bradenton restaurants and shops and see what is going on at the Manatee Performing Arts Center. The Riverwalk is expanding, and the Bradenton Riverwalk East was opened in the Fall of 2022. The Riverwalk is about an hour’s bike ride from the island.
Lake Manatee Bike Path
Lake Manatee State Park is on the southern shore of Lake Manatee, about 15 miles east of the town of Bradenton. The Lake Manatee Bike Path has over 6.5 miles of hiking and biking trails in the park, where you ride through the different areas.
There are also non-paved bike trails where you will see the flora and fauna while observing the quiet wilderness. If you are up for it, you can bike to Lake Manatee State Park from Anna Maria Island. It is about a 2-hour bike ride to the park from Anna Maria, so bring lots of water, snacks, and sunblock.
Robinson Preserve
Robinson Preserve is in northwest Bradenton and has entrances on 9th Ave NW and 17th Ave NW. There are lots of trails in the preserve. Some of the trails are paved, and some are rougher. By taking the rough trails, you’ll see more of undisturbed nature. The paved trails provide a pleasant and easy ride where you can also enjoy lovely views.

Cruiser bikes come with a basket; the other bikes are not equipped to have a basket installed. You can get a helmet for an extra charge. You can also rent a golf cart to get around the island or a single or double-person scooter that you can take to Longboat Key. You must be 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license to rent one of these vehicles.
