Southern Bradenton Beach stretches from the Longboat Key Bridge to Cortez Road and is the southernmost area of Anna Maria Island. This narrow strip of land is sometimes less than one block wide, making access to both the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway a quick and easy stroll.
This area of Anna Maria Island is home to Coquina Beach, one of the two main public beaches on the island. This large lifeguard protected beach area features covered picnic tables, restrooms and BBQ area. Coquina Beach, of course, features white sands and emerald water and blue skies. What a perfect combination!
Just across Gulf Drive from Coquina Beach is Leffis Key. This is a wonderful nature preserve with boardwalks meandering out to the bay.
Just north of this area are some quaint and charming shops along Bridge Street. Local artists displaying their wares and ice cream shops and restaurants are conveniently within walking distance to each other. Whether it’s a beach burger or an upscale restaurant, it can be found in this area.
Should you decide to explore Longboat Key and the St. Armand’s Circle area, it is quick drive over the bridge.
